Sports don't start and end with a referee's whistle. FirstCuts, a blog dedicated to sports culture, will cover everything outside the lines, from the games to the gear. Look for expanded FirstCuts content after the New Year.
If you followed some of my previous entries on SportingNews.com, you'll know I'm a big fan of the clothing company UNDRCRWN. The holiday shipment is hitting the web at a few select retailers (PickYourShoes.com and DigitalGravel.com), and a lot of the hot items will sell out fast, so here are a few things you can add to your holiday wish list from the new collection:
Any chance Pacman Jones will pose with one of these? Oh, what I'd pay to see that. Who didn't love some Reignman highlight films? Shawn Kemp was the truth back then, you know before the weight gain and the paternity issues. Still, gotta love the old-school logo with a taste of today. (P.S. -- If anyone at Reebok is listening, please bring back the Kamikaze II. People are buying beat-up pairs on eBay, so there is money to be made.)
Charles Barkley made the saying famous in an old Nike ad. Chuck still speaks his mind -- he's my favorite in-studio player-turned analyst these days. Nike is doing a lot of big things with Barkley again, which probably deserves its own post, but what better item to wear with that new pair of Nike retro Barkleys than this?
How can you go wrong with Michael Jordan from the free-throw line? It's a nice alternative if you're not into the current Jordan Brand gear, but you want something to go with those Jordan Retro VIII shoes that come out on Dec. 22.
This shirt hasn't hit the other web retailers yet, but keep checking UNDRCRWN.com for this one along with other online exclusives. You can also buy in person. Check out the GoogleMap to find an UNDRCRWN retailer in your area code.
