Making Money Off Sean Taylor's Death

By Chris Mottram

When athletes pass away, their memorabilia becomes more valuable. You don't need to be the Comic Book Guy to realize that. So, I can't really be surprised that people would immediately be cashing in on #21's tragic passing. Having said that, I'm a little surprised.

As pointed out by the D.C. Sports Bog, two Sean Taylor items are popping up on eBay this week.

First, are the #21 towels handed out at the game on Sunday. The going rate for these seems to be around $30, which is funny because you can purchase a new one for $3.99 plus S&H for Redskins.com.

Second, and somewhat disturbing, is the sale of programs from Taylor's funeral service on Monday. For over $100 (action is now closed), you could own this "nice addition to your collection." Classy.

I assume it's only a matter of time before "authentic tears from mourners at Taylor's funeral" are being auctioned off.
