FirstCuts: FIFA Street 3 Demo on Xbox Live

By Chris Littmann

Sports don't start and end with a referee's whistle. FirstCuts, a blog dedicated to sports culture, will cover everything outside the lines, from games to gear.

Just a quick note for those of you with Xbox 360 consoles. The demo for FIFA Street 3 is up online for a free download. It checks in at less than 300 MB, so it’s a quick download.

The demo allows you to play through a quick game between Brazil and England. I ran through about five games, getting a feel for the trick system. If you’re familiar with any of the other Street titles, a lot of it will feel natural. It seems like a point accumulation system was missing, but it seemed like a title that would be enjoyable as a rental. Give it a run and report back with your thoughts. The game releases Feb. 18, 2008 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo DS.

More EA news: The company that brought you those wacky Madden tours is doing something smaller with NBA Live. The 2008 EA Sports NBA Live Challenge will be held in Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta, New York, Philadelphia, Boston and New Orleans. The winners will move on to New Orleans to play for $10,000 at the NBA All-Star Jam Session in New Orleans. Serious question: Seeing as how Gilbert Arenas isn’t playing any time soon, will this be his way to get to the NBA All-Star Game? After all, he is quite the gamer.
