New Orleans Diary: Meet the Dorseys

Those are the estimable shoulders of Glenn Dorsey Sr, the father of LSU's All-American defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey. I ran into the Dorsey family--Glenn Sr, mom Sandra, and sister Toi--walking down Canal Street, and figured out who they were through amazing powers of deduction (they all kind of looked like Glenn Dorsey, and were wearing purple shirts with yellow lettering that read "Dorsey."

Dad said he was "very, very proud" of his son, and the shirts were an extension of that pride. Team Dorsey's had the shirts since Dorsey's second year; they have the name on the back, and a montage of family photos with Glenn on the front reading "He's good all by himself, but we're a force when we're together." (Reminder: make this exact shirt when my future son becomes a champion twirler.)

The family's predictions, by family member: Sandra has LSU winning 35-17, Toi has a tight finish for a 35-28 vicotry, and Glenn, Sr. goes blowoutish with a 37-13 LSU victory. I was about to ask if that was a bit optimistic, but then I noticed that Dorsey the younger didn't come by his size by accident: Daddy Dorsey's not as tall, but is built like a fullback and in very good shape.

Considering this carefully, I agreed enthusiastically and thanked them for their time.
