In the end, Oklahoma just didn't enough fake injury moxie in the second half to beat Texas. The Longhorns win 45-35 in what could be conceivably called a "shoot-out." I found it interesting that near the Texas 40 with 2-1/2 minutes left and down 10, Bob Stoops elected to go for it on fourth down. Oklahoma's most brilliant play of the second half came on punter Mike Knall's flop. If it ain't broke ...This post originally appeared on the Sporting Blog. For more, see The Sporting Blog Archives.

Smart play, patience, and accuracy. Colt McCoy lead his team to victory against a very good Sooner team. Too bad for the Sooners that their linebackers and secondary can no longer hide behind a lack of coverage. Every team they will play the rest of the season will attack the middle of the field with quick passes.
As for who is going to be #1 in the Polls…..I think Texas showed enough to bounce from number 5 to number 1. Especially if OK St. give Mizou a run for their money.

The attacks to the middle came after Reynolds went out. You saw the stat of yards/points that came after his injury. I can’t fault OU’s defense much — it was more a case of Texas execution of five, six, seven yard plays.
I also protest any question of ‘bad karma.’ The OU punter flopped, but the refs called it — and it only equals the non-call INT in the endzone and two iffy personal fouls that extended Texas drives. In the end, it doesn’t matter. Texas deserved it, but it was a classic game.

What’s really sad is, all the talent OU has on that team, & arguably, it is the better team, that the coaches decide to only run 3 plays that differ from , unless you live in a cave, everybody in America knew they would run. Running incessantly on first down after being shut down all day is just DUMB. This one falls on the coaching. One player (R. Reynolds) shouldn’t make the difference in the game. But it did in this instance. Look at TU’s production before & after he went down. It’s just sad. Texas is a fine team, don’t get me wrong. McCoy is a fine QB. Oklahoma overall is a much more talented team. Coaching let us down today, and unfortunately for Sooner fans, Coach Stoops is so loyal that we will have to put up with inferior coaching for quite awhile. I love where Coach V. has gotten us thus far, but it has become obvious that he cannot win with as much, if not more, talent than his predecessor had. At least not against the teams that he should anyway. Texas is good, but I think Oklahoma, today, made them look better than they really are. Coach Wilson obviously has forgotten what made him a hot offensive commodity, RUNNING THE BALL. It’s just sad is all that the better team lost today, and why.

I think the better team won, I loved seeing that arrogant fathead Stoops lose another big game and Texas looks like a serious contender. All those things aside, the story of the game for me was the officials. They were HORRIBLE. They were absolutely HORRIBLE. How can you possibly screw BOTH teams?? I’m not sure either, but these circus animals found a way.
1. McCoY falls over and draws a 15-yarder on the OU defense TWICE.
2. The first OU TD was about a yard short.
3. OU had an INT taken away in the endzone for reasons that still escape me…
4..but that worked out well in the end because the refs missed a blatant holding call in the defensive seconday.
5. The OU punter went Euro soccer on us and, of course, drew another 15-yarder.
Now those are just the obvious ones that I can remember now. I’m sure it was worse. Those refs have some ’splainin to do.

You can now scratch Missouri (lost to Oklahoma State) and LSU (they sank in the swamp big time!).
It was a great game…all you could ask for in a college football game with National Championship implications. The momentum went back and forth and both QBs were brilliant. Colt McCoy stepped up big time today, the Longhorns running game got going and the offensive line was outstanding. Lots of big plays by both teams.
My new Top 10:
1. Alabama
2. Texas
3. Penn State
4. Texas Tech
5. USC (some will argue BYU, but I just think that USC, Florida and
Oklahoma are better than BYU)
6. Florida
7. Oklahoma
8. BYU
9. Missouri
10. Georgia
