Sarah Palin Has Done This Before

TSB's cynical chief Chris Mottram predicted Flyers fans would act cold toward Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, possibly even booing her when she came out to drop the ceremonial first puck for Philadelphia's home opener. I don't hear any boos here, do you?

Man, that music is really loud! Why are the Flyers trying to drown out all the cheers for our next vice president, America's No. 1 Hockey Mom? Typical Philadelphia, placing politics above decency.

You’re ears are bad…she was booed.  And obviously so are opinions when you say "next vice president."  Stick to sports Nostradamus.

Like a typical Fox News story, you took the facts and twisted them. All the news outlets reported she was booed but here you are like a boob saying she wasn’t  Kudos to you for showing your fair and balanced side.

One more thing…look at the video again. Are you blind too? Can you not see the people in the stands giving the thumbs down and/or not clapping?

Philadelphia is primarily DEMOCRATIC.  What did you expect would happen?

stsags — I believe Ziller was employing what is often known as sarcasm.

I guess dropping the puck can’t be as bad as dropping the ball completely!

Yep, the whole deal was a joke and the proof is that Philli lost.

Messier would have given her a little how-ya-do goosing.

People in Philly’s sporting community have always shown that when it comes to manners and class they are truly lacking……..

Palin kisses Gomez but not the flyer guy? What’s that about?

I went to this game.

Palin was introduced as the current pre-eminent HOCKEY MOM and she strode out onto the ice with her very cute and waving 7-year old daughter who was wearing a Flyers jersey. At no time in the introduction was it mentioned that she was a candidate for office, or that she was in politics. She did not say a word and was not even miked.

The crowd booed so loud and so long that they turned the music up to drown it out.

Even the shield of a 7-yr old girl wearing a Flyers jersey could not save her.

Only in Philadelphia.

Palin kissed Gomez cause Palin is the Govenor of Alaska and thats where Scott Gomez is from.

Wow, even boo a 7yrd old wearing a Philly Jersey.  What a shame.  Now I have seen how truly classless the average Philly fan is.  Pathetic.

1. They were booing because they were expecting Tina Fey.

2. Why does sarcasm not go over well on this site?

by StetSportsBlog on Oct 12, 2008 9:29 PM EDT reply actions

I tend to believe the notion of sarcasm given the YouTube clip has an Obama link embedded toward the end. Mr. Ziller, if that was an accident it’s funny, if that was intentional it’s brilliant!

Gomer gave her the tounge, that dirty Alaskan center!

I don’t know about the boos, folks. Let the fans in Philly do what the hell they want. Face it, even this Ranger fan respects them for their antics – it’s all part of the act. If they gave her a ‘good-natured cheer’ I’d be stocking up on canned goods and clean water, convinced that the we just saw the first sign of the apocalypse.

Sarcasm doesn’t go well because it is easily lost in text… I didn’t find it sarcastic the first time I read it either. You better make it obvious, or leave it out, especially with something this controversial.

As far as the actual puck dropping goes, gag me with a hockey stick. What’s next? McCain plays goalie while Obama shoots a puck? Politics are not meant for entertainment…

I think the only solution is for us to create a new tag to use on these type of posts: "THIS IS SARCASM!!!!!!! REPEAT: WE’RE BEING SARCASTIC."

Nah, nevermind. Even that wouldn’t do any good.

Yeah, the sarcasm is CLEARLY hidden. I mean, it’s not like he said, "I don’t hear any booing" and then cued a video of booing.

Oh. Wait.

Damn.
