Sheed Teaches Kwame How Not to Suck

The Lakers finally lost Friday, throwing dreams of 82-0 into the wastebasket. (There's still hope for 81-1, though!) The biggest shock wasn't the Detroit win, though ... it was Kwame Brown's solid play.

L.A., you'll remember, booed Brown without mercy before the franchise shipped him his contract to Memphis in the Pau Gasol deal. Kwame's existence made life terrible for Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace, who found fans, pundits and other NBA execs laughing at the lopsided trade.

Brown ended up in Detroit, where he's playing well enough to stay in the rotation and occasionally embarrass more celebrated players. How has Kwame overcome his own failure? It looks like teammate and future NBA Coach of the Year Rasheed Wallace has played a role.

Actually, I think Sheed was giving Kwame and Walter Herrmann directions to Lucky Strike Lanes in Hollywood.

I’m sure that’s what Mike had in mind drafting (“your style is played out, like”) Kwame first overall… an occassional game where he looks tolerable in the 11th man role.
