Killing Stuff Remains Therapeutic for Colt McCoy

Colt McCoy continues to take out his rage on the varmints of the world after being left out of the national title game. My, that deer looks relaxed.

Comet and Cupid and Donner and… uhm… never mind.

"My, that deer looks relaxed" is very funny, btw.

If hunting was outlawed you would see much more horrific sites than that one. Millions of starving animals. The annihilation of natural predators has made hunting a necessary evil. Get over yourselves.

What are you talking about, Bone? Who ever said anything for, or against, hunting? We simply posted a photo of McCoy with a dead deer.

Defensive much, buddy?

Guns. Not Gun’s.

If hunting were outlawed, only deers would have antlers.

J Bone A—

Got nothing against hunters, especially bowhunters, or that guy in Wisconsin a few years ago who killed a deer with a pocketknife.

I wouldn’t be bothered in the least if ALL guns were outlawed. Of course, if all guns were outlawed, then only outlaws would have guns. Hand guns can go for sure. They’re only good for killing people.

As far as my original comment goes, maybe I did read a little too much between the lines. But, I get the distinct impression that someone around SN doesn’t get it when it comes to hunting in general.

Having a handgun liekly saved my life when someone broke into my home, with a gigantic knife ready to go. I support the right of responsible ownership. And while I totally disagree with hunting in terms of it not being an even match, it is a necessary thing to control the population.

You guys really know how to suck the joy out of an otherwise funny photograph.

Why is it funny? Is the picture funny, or is it funny because Hall says something about McCoy taking out his rage on varmits?

Hilarious.

Where I come from pictures like this are all over the place.

If you’d click the link, you’d see why Hall brought up varmints at all.

And yeah, it is hilarious. We don’t all live in Texas.

The first thing about that pic I think when I see it is that it’s a hell of a buck. Especially if you shot it with a handgun, cos you’d have to get within about ten feet of the thing to shoot it. What no one seems to realize is that colt could have got it illegaly. No one goes headlight hunting for varmints. They do it to get an easy buck. You see, when you take your truck out and flash your headlights, the deer freezes and you get an easy shot. Last time I checked, it’s called headlight hunting and was illegal in most states. If Colt go it honestly, awesome. If not, well that’s on his conscience.

I read the original story about spotlighting varmits, but I clicked the link anyway. So, I already knew what was supposed to be funny. It’s supposed to be funny that Colt McCoy is killing everything in sight because Texas is not in the MNC.

I’m now laughing so hard that my ass is off.

Maybe I was wrong about the hint of anti-hunting I originally sensed. Maybe it’s just anti-Texas.

Obviously not every person is going to have the same sense of humor. To me, the photo is funny. To you, it’s just an everyday thing. That does mean the post was anti-anything.

I think the picture itself is awesome. However, the intimation that he was headlight hunting is less so. It’s just bush league, and if he was actually doing it, I would consider it pretty low character. I mean, in his words, he admitted to doing something that is illegal and considered by most hunters to be extremely illegitimate.

Spotlighting varmits in Texas is not illegal. Spotlighting deer IS illegal. I don’t see McCoy doing that.

It’s starting to look like Mottram is the defensive one here.

I don’t like hunting, but the picture still made me laugh thinking about how righteously pissed McCoy must be after getting the short end of the stick for the Big 12 CG.

It’s start to look like Texas sucks IM NOT DEFENSIVE AT ALL WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT CANT YOU SEE HOW CALM IM REMAINING ABOUT THIS?!@!

Now it comes out!!! Now it comes out!!!

I see how it is now ;)

by J Bone A on Dec 18, 2008 4:33 PM EST reply actions

That is a hell of a buck. Having tried to hit the broad side of a barn with a Glock at a shooting range on numerous occasions, I will say that even if he did hit that with a handgun it would be an accomplishment.

Now, killing it with his bare hands would have been even more spectacular, but you can’t ask for everything.

Mottram: It’s not funny or offensive to me, it’s impressive. That’s a big boy he took down. However, you still get credit for bringing the pic to the attention of SN.

I never said it was offensive.

Never said you did.

And edit feature would be quite welcome here.

More to the point, I was clarifying my own assertions. My apologies for the quasi-implication.
