Undefeated Penn State to Play for BCS Title

Looks like we were wrong this morning when we used Texas’ current situation as an example of how the BCS is busted. It turns out that it matters not what happens, or who plays in, the Big XII title game. According to Harris Poll voter Pat Quinn, Alabama will meet Penn State in the National Championship. His explanation for this is quite simple, really:
I asked Harris poll voter Pat Quinn, the former Oklahoma State University sports information director, how he would vote OU and Texas if the Sooners won Saturday night.

“Oh, I don’t know,” Quinn said. “Doesn’t really matter. I think Alabama and Penn State will probably play for the national championship. They’re the only undefeated teams, aren’t they,” Quinn said.

Sure, Quinn is one of 114 Harris Poll voters, a system that only accounts for a third of the entire BCS rankings, but really, the guy didn’t know Penn State lost to Iowa? Is it too much to ask that these voters, who have the fate of entire programs in their hands, be college football experts? And by “experts,” I mean that they at least know which teams have lost zero games vs. which have lost one game. Although Quinn’s probably right: it’s just one little number difference in the loss column; doesn’t really matter.

Hey, if expertise means f-ing up who is undefeated or not, then I think illiteracy has reached a new high, at least in regard to former college media whores.

The BCS should use "charisma of the head coach" to settle close decisions.

BCS poll voting job description – vaguely follow college football

Turns out the average fan is over-qualified for the job.
