Laveranues Coles Misses Chad Pennington

Is there any other way to explain Laveranues Coles' grumbling about Brett Favre's lack of deference than that the receiver preferred life under Chad Pennington? From the San Francisco Chronicle, via Shutdown Corner:
Laveranues Coles, in fact, sounded almost bitter at the impact Favre's arrival in New York has had on him.

"We're in a quarterback-driven offense where he pretty much has control of everything, where before the offense was pretty much driven through me. ... I just kind of become a role player instead of a guy that teams had to prepare for. ... This is his offense. When we do throw the ball, there's really no level of importance, where at one point it used to be where I was the guy ... in position to get the ball most of the time."
Wait, so you're saying Eric Mangini's offense lets the QB make decisions about where to throw the ball? That's nuts! Man, for the halcyon days where a stinkeye in the huddle would pressure the QB to look Coles' way more frequently. This new dude is too strong-willed for L.C.'s tastes.

Coles has three fewer catches than Jerricho Cotchery through 12 games. Last year, L.C. finished with 33 fewer in three fewer games. If anything, Favre is throwing at Coles in a greater share than the cavalcade of garbage at the position did last season. Is Brett failing to slap Coles' behind as frequently as necessary? What's the problem here?

LC is still bitter over the 61 overall player rating assigned to him by Madden 2002. I’d be bitter, too.
