How to Kick a Man When He's Down, Draw the Foul

By Chris Mottram

Observe as Bruce Bowen teaches us the key to his defense: Kick a superstar while he's on his back, then rely on horrible officiating:

Even better (or, I guess, worse) than the kick is Bowen's acting skills. Does he not understand how replay works? Everyone is going to see that you just tried to kick Chris Paul in his man-bits after the play was over. I'd prefer he at least owned up to it with more of a "what now, sucka!?" act than the "what happened?" charade he put on.

What's weird is that this was so un-Bowen like. I mean, he's never been known to play dirty and kick other players. Oh, wait, what's that? He does this sort of stuff all the time? Nevermind, par for the course.

It’s funny you mention the point about goalies getting hurt…I’m a diehard Islanders fan, and both Rick DiPietro (day to day) and Garth Snow (3-4 weeks) were hurt within a few games of each other by a forward crashing into them. Now the Isles are down to their minor league starter, and an ECHL starter. And speaking of Sutter and the Isles, rumors are flying that he might be offered that job very shortly. Great article.

Lindy Ruff is amazing. I’m so ecstatic over what he’s done with that team. It didn’t take him very long either.

NHL must put a stop to running the goalies. This is really hurting several teams by affecting their play, their win sheet, their standings.
