One Less Bubble Team: ASU, Thanks For Playing

By Chris Mottram

Arizona State gave it a good effort in their 59-55 loss to USC today, but unfortunately, good efforts don't get you into the Tournament. Above-.500 conference records do. This leaves ASU with nine wins in the Pac-10, and a RPI and SOS both around 75.

It's not a bad resume, by any means, but compared to other bubble teams (such as Villanova, which also lost today), you'd have to think the Sun Devils are dunzo. Thanks for playing, guys. Now go join Syracuse at the NIT.

This now means that the Pac-10 is looking at six teams, at the most. And while we're here, talking about the Pac-10, how are they the best conference in the country? The ACC is clearly superior. Match the top 10 ACC teams side-by-side with the Pac-10. It's no contest. But this is an argument that could rage on forever, so I digress.

Update: I'm already catching a lot a flak for making the incredibly outrageous claim that the ACC is better than the Pac-10. To paraphrase The Big Lebowski: It was just, like, my opinion, man. So let's all clam down.

This guy wasn’t a favorite of mine either, but he was a good, solid midfielder who did the little things to help his team win. I know MLS greatly appreciates his services and will miss him. Never flamboyant, just got the job done.
