Ryan Zimmerman Has a Flair For the Dramatic

By Chris Mottram

The Nationals opened their beautiful (by all accounts; wouldn't know first hand yet) new ballpark last night against the Braves. Sure, it's in a less-than-desirable part of D.C., and may have been built at the expensive of arguably more important priorities (education is for stupid people!), but dammit, the Nats have a place they can call home.

So, win or lose last night, Nats fans could be happy just having seen a game played in this glorious new venue (I say all this as a D.C. area native and a Nationals fan). But, because there is a god and Ryan Zimmerman my be him, they won in the most dramatic fashion possible, as Zimm came to the plate with two out, bottom of the 9th, tie game:

And that happened: Zimm's fourth career walk-off in just his third season.

I already attempted to explain my euphoria over at my other home (shameless hat tip to myself), so I won't sicken you with my Nats homerism. But seriously, that was pretty amazing stuff. And with that, our best moment of the season may have already come and gone.
