Jon Show is on loan to Sporting News from our sister publication, SportsBusiness Journal. He's in Augusta for The Masters and will be writing about his experiences in this space daily during the tournament. Be sure to check out his columns as well.
It’s Sunday in Augusta, so let’s give a big shout out to the religious zealots. The first picture was taken from my car and reads, “God says meet me at my house Sunday before the game.” By referring to Sunday at the Masters as “the game,” I can only assume God’s not a golfer.
These fine citizens were parked outside of the main walk-in gate on Washington Road. The nice looking gentleman in the beard is holding a sign that reads “Repent your wicked heart of unbelief” and “Ask me why you deserve hell” on the opposite side.
On the other corner stood this guy with a sign that reads “Warning -- baby killing women, porno freaks, sports nuts, drunks, homos, Jesus mockers, Mormons – judgement coming.” I like that he was smart enough to grab the corner next to the funnel cake tent and cigar stand.
