Finland Better at Hockey, USA Better at Fighting

You probably already saw this video because I have no doubt you spent you Mother’s Day glued to the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships in Halifax, Canada. But in case you missed it, here is American David Backes giving Finland’s Anssi Salmela the business:

It should be noted that all that went down after the game was officially over. (A game Finland won 3-2, despite one of their goals coming from a shot that went through the side of the net. Sneaky Fins.) It should also be noted that trying to fight with a visor on your helmet, a stick in your hand and your gloves on is the hockey equivalent of throwing your helmet at the pitcher as you charge the mound. Or, say, drinking Michelob Ultra. And this is why Salmela’s nose was busted open: because he deserved it.
