The 33-year-old ex-sprinter was arrested Wednesday on a sealed indictment, accused of dealing more than 100 grams of heroin in Virginia over the past year, according to the Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk.
Montgomery retired from track and field in 2005 following (ironically enough) a doping ban, and had his records from March 31, 2001 forward wiped clean as a result of his involvement in doping. These penalties pale compared to the 46 months in jail he could face for these charges.
Combine his arrest with Marion Jones' prison term, and you now have two former luminaries of American track running laps behind barbed wire. There's a Cincinnati Bengals joke in here somewhere, but I just can't get to it.
