Germany Is Your First Euro '08 Semifinalist

Spencer, who is our resident soccer expert, is on assignment doing some super awesome stuff that you’ll know more about tomorrow, so you’ll get no grand recap of today’s Germany-Portugal quarterfinal. Instead, you’ve got me here to tell you Germany won 3-2. They scored two goals in the first 25 minutes to take the 2-0 lead, including this beaut from the fantastically German-named Bastian Schweinsteiger:

With the score 3-1 late in the second half, Portugal scored to make it a one-goal contest, but could never net an equalizer. Germany will take on the winner of tomorrow’s Croatia-Turkey match.
