Friday afternoon, Madden 09 QB ratings hit the web. Now, thanks to the fine work of Pasta Padre, we've got all of the ratings for Madden 09.
I won't ruin all the fun and will give you the same opportunity to waste some time at work today, but here are a few highlights:
-- How is Jeff Garcia (89) higher than Derek Anderson (88)? Anderson was a machine last year, and he has the chance to keep it up after the team added Donte Stallworth to the offensive mix.
-- Philip Rivers really bought himself some cred with his performance late last season. He's up to a 90.
-- Calvin Johnson, despite the injury issues last season, jumped up and has the same rating -- 92 -- as teammate Roy Williams.
-- Eli Manning is up to a 93, nipping at the Tony Romo's heels (94).
-- The mixed bag of Bears receivers includes Devin Hester (81) slotted as the No. 2 receiver. You can bet that speed number is probably at or approaching 99.
--Adrian Peterson is only a 95. I'm shocked. I thought we'd have our next Bo Jackson/Michael Vick video game superhero after AP's breakout last season.
-- Rookies that you'll care about: Rashard Mendenhall (81), Joe Flacco (79), Chris Long (84), Darren McFadden (85), Jerod Mayo (82), Jonathan Stewart (83), Vernon Gholston (82), Matt Ryan (83), DeSean Jackson (78), Jake Long (86), Felix Jones (80), Glenn Dorsey (84), Chris Johnson (77).

it’s funny how Braylon Edwards is only 3 higher then Calvin Johnsonand he was the 2nd best WR in football last year. Madden ratings are stupid.

How can you say that Edwards was in T.O.’s or Randy Moss class last year. Edwards is good but not great!

Although it pains me to say nice things about a Browns player, Edwards did top T.O. by one TD last season and had nearly identical yardage for the year. Moss, on the other hand, was in a totally different world.

Eli a 93? Now that’s funny!

Even Eli’s superbowl throw that was caught was terrible. He should be even with Anderson at best. Braylon Edwards should be rated higher and Moss was a lucky duck in a “system” that without Stallworth will not be the same. T.O. still commands doulbles in certain situations but is no longer the dominant force he once was. I wonder if you can pick Favre up as a free agent and if so what is his rating?

Umm Hester is the first Madden player to have an attribute over 99….You should have done your research, the kids at 100SPD on madden 08 the same is true for 09…

Actually, when we wrote this post, there were no individual attribute rankings available for receivers. The only ones that had made it out were QBs. One day after we posted, the attributes for receivers leaked and Hester is, in fact, a 100 in speed again.

Garcia ahead of Anderson is a little bit tough to swallow, but DA didn’t help his cause very much in the last half of the season. Maybe you can also blame a few snow bowl games that Anderson played in, while Garcia was basking in the sun down in Tampa as a reason why Jeff is higher ranked.
Some Browns fans may want to know what rating Brady Quinn got this year, because if Anderson struggles he could find himself on the virtual bench if not the actual bench.

Brady Quinn is an 82, but i need to find out what Charlie Frye is so when i get the game i can make a trade and get the best QB to ever wear a Browns uniform back on my team : )

dna,
While you’re at it, go ahead and explore the “Create a Player” feature and re-create the magic that was the Tim Couch Era.
