FirstCuts: Drop $1K on Garnett's Kicks

Kevin Garnett -- who I absolutely assert would start over Kevin McHale if we did a mashup of new-and-old Celtics -- will be wearing a special version of the adidas Team Signature Commander during the NBA Finals.

Like 'em? Be prepared to shell out $1,017 for a pair of the ultra-limited edition shoes. Only eight pairs per game will be produced, and each pair will be numbered according to the game they'll be released, according to Complex. The shoe also features a tip of the cap to Malik Sealy and Kirby Puckett. Don't get too angry about the price; the money is headed to NBA Cares community partners in the Boston area.

The face on the side of the shoe is wild -- something you don't see all that often. The same can be said for that rather large O'Brien Trophy and NBA Finals logo. I can't decide if I like it, but unless my boss comes to drop a bag of money on my desk today, I don't think buying these shoes will be an issue for me. Anyone have the appropriate cake to purchase these?

I like the shoe. Real nice design. The style is straight to the point and they look comfortable. As for the $1000, well since it is for charity and only 8 pair a game, the most you will see is 56 of them, so I guess you dont have to worry about seeing someone else in them and I would say it is worth it. I personally would buy them and try to get them autographed. I am not sure about wearing though. Geeze, I would had to scratch them up the first time I wore them.

I don’t like this shoe. The lowtop version that Gilbert Arenas will be wearing looks great, but there is simply no stitching continuity to the KG’s Commander. The triangle stitching along and above the reinforced toe cap are hardly subtle and look rather contrived. The NBA Finals logo on the medial side is wack. However, I do appreciate the Malik Sealy and Kirby Puckett references though.
