I actually AM from France. One of the reasons I am no longer from France is that wimpy Soccer is our national sport.
Whatever faults the USA may have- and they are Legion- they are balanced off by the fact that we have NFL football, and no one else is any good at it. It’s why we keep winning those World Wars.
In fact… if I were Truman, those SOBs wouldn’t have gotten dollar one of Marshall Plan aid until all of them agreed to start referring to their silly sport as “soccer.” You have to show people who the Boss is.

The non-call was in no way controversial, as one of the italy guys was lying behind his own goal… and so he is counted as last man – stupid rule: yes! Controversial: No!

Not often you see the Italian defense split open like an overripe grapefruit. Their defending was dire for the third. Due to the incompetence of Steve Mclaren the Euros mean nothing to me but even I can take solace in seeing the Dutch kick lumps out of the Italians. Good to see that xenophobia is alive, well and living in the blogosphere.
