Around SBN: Why Penn State Should Avoid 'Joe Paterno Field'

From Our Editors

Updated throughout the day with quick takes from staff.

A.I., Class of '04 All About to Be Traded. Maybe.

It's already been the craziest off-season ever, and boy could it be about to jump off further. According to The Rocky Mountain News, Allen Iverson might be on the block.

Hopefully, that will soothe Marcus Camby's
ravaged self-esteem -- after all, rebuilding is a heartless beast. The Nuggets never offered A.I. an extension, it now seems like Melo is (rightfully) the future and the cost-cutting has a distinct age-discrimination bend to it. It might not happen til next season's deadline, but major nonetheless.

But wait, there's more. The Charlotte Observer reports the Okafor and the Bobcats are at an impasse, and that a sign-and-trade might be imminent. In fact, it's in both sides' best interest to do this sooner, rather than later, given Okafor's injury history.

Oh, and Luol Deng's gotten sick of butting heads with the Bulls. And, as I will never cease to remind you, Iguodala's still in limbo. And let's not even get started with the Josh Smith situation, or whatever's up with Ben Gordon.

The Class of 2004 may not seem cocky, but they're poised to over-estimate themselves right into oblivion. No one has any cap space. That Camby deal was, for all intents and purposes, a desperation move. Who knows, maybe they're all headed overseas? I mean, Okafor, Iguodala, Deng, and Gordon all have strong international roots. Yeah, I smell a Stern conspiracy coming on.

Brown and AI did make it to the finals in Philly, but can Charlotte deal with AI’s phat contract?
