Waving to Fans During a Play Is a Bad Idea

As we more than learned during our time in NYC for the All-Star festivities, the Bleacher Creatures (I apologize for at the time calling them “Bleacher Bums") have quite a strong influence in Yankee Stadium. So much so, that center fielder Melky Cabrera felt the need to acknowledge their "roll call" in the middle of a play last night ... while a ball was coming at him:
Smooth, Melky, real smooth.

Of course, the Yanks went on to win anyway, because that's what they do now. They're only 3.5 games out of first place. Man, the playoffs are gonna be so much different this October with the Red Sox and Yankees in the postseason for once.

See, that’s why Manny makes the catch, then high-fives the fan.

If he gets that distracted by a bunch of fans calling his name, think of what a pennant race will do to him.
