FirstCuts: Stache Movement Gets A Shirt

For sports fans, sometimes it's just not good enough to wear boring, authorized team gear. Unique tees like this, or this, are to slightly nerdy athletic fanatics what great Ramones or Smiths shirts are to music snobs. This is the quest for that gear. On a regular, but yet to be determined basis, we'll showcase the best of new, old, and rare sports-related t-shirts around the web and let you know if they're worth your allowance. If you have a sumbission, send it to FirstCuts@sportingnews.com

What?! Jason Giambi is mustachioed? Have I been living under a rock? That's just crazy/creative non-use of razorblades!

Okay, we get it. He's decided to grow a small forest on his upper lip. Novelty over. Honestly, until you're ready to dedicate the sort of years, careful grooming, and thousands of tiny combs to facial follicle growth like Sal Fasano, your puny and temporary excuse of a mustache is not an icon worthy of being put to cotton. Yeah, even if every hair has been endorsed by the National Moustache Association.

That being said, if you're a Yanks fan and dying to drop some gas money on a sartorial testament to the lasting legacy of Giambi's 'stache, this is the sharpest looking t-shirt we've found. Released in early July before the All Star break, the "Start Spreading the Stache" comes from Fuzzy Ink a company that sports a full line of other nose-neighbor-themed tees -- yep, even that just-for-the-bar, Friday night special design that implies you're willing to use your face as an amusement ride.

Verdict: Unless you're a complete Giambi honk, save your money. He'll either be taking out the Bic or donning another uniform soon enough, and then this shirt will just be left sitting in the drawer next to your collection of snap bracelets and Andre Rison Cleveland Browns jersey. -- Vince Grzegorek (Editor's note: Welcome Vince, you'll be hearing more about him in the days to come.)

Sal Fasano’s is better and he did it first.

So what if he doesn’t have the numbers to back it up. He’ll just sit on Giambi. Cause even he makes Giambi look thin.

Disc jockey and man of questionable character Don Imus may still be on
a mission to prove his racial ignorance. You’ll recall he lost his job
last year after referring to the Rutgers women’s basketball team as
“nappy headed hos.” Well, today, while discussing Pacman Adam Jones, Imus was back at it:
