The Ladies Go Crazy For the Goose

The great pretty decent Goose Gossage was inducted into the Hall of Fame yesterday, and although none of us here at TSB watched it (seriously, was it on TV? I couldn’t find it), we thought it fitting to pay tribute to the man with the best baseball mustache this side of Rollie Fingers. Actually, scrap all that nonsense. We really just wanted to post this photo of Goose giving Mary Lou Retton some sugar before the 1984 World Series:


Although Goose said on Saturday that there is way too much “hugging and loving” between opponents nowadays, he clearly never had a problem with lovin’ the ladies before one of the biggest games of his career. But how can you blame him? Mary Lou is just so irresistible in that Wheaties mesh-trucker she’s rockin’. And this is waaaay before mesh hats were cool for that one summer a few years ago. That throwback Padres hat, however, will always be cool.
