It has been written by CNBC’s Darren Rovell, among others, that the shoe money just isn’t there for this season’s top draft picks. Yes, O.J. Mayo inked a four-year deal with Nike, but other than that, it has been quiet.
For Jordan Brand, which has been extremely selective and limited with who they bring in to the fold, to potentially add Beasley, would be huge. Rose landing with adidas would be logical to some, considering he wore the three stripes while playing for Memphis. Rose wore the adidas TS Pro Model against the Heat while Beasley rocked the Black/Stealth colorway of the Jordan XX3.
This isn’t the first time Beasley has been spotted with Jordans. He wore them frequently at Kansas State, and in his online digital series called “The Rookie” on ESPN.com, he was seen working out in Jordan XIII (while wearing a Converse shirt).
The Rose stuff is even more uncertain, because although he wore adidas today and at Memphis, he’s been spotted in Nike at Bulls photo shoots and in Converse at a White Sox game when he threw out the first pitch.
In other words, who knows.

You’re right Chris, it should be interesting to see how it plays out. Kevin “Kevlar” Love recently inked a deal with Converse. It’s been obvious for quite some time that the brand was looking for another potential star/high draft pick to compliment Wade (and fill out the rest of their roster that seems to be rooted in anonymity). Love could very well be that big star, as I doubt Cons has the bank to sign Rose/Beasley.

I’m interested to hear more about Bulletproof’s deal with Converse. (Yes, I’m trying to get Bulletproof going as the nickname thanks to Gunnin’ For That No. 1 Spot.) Although I read what Nick wrote about Love’s alleged Converse deal, I’ve heard that’s not official by any stretch. Not saying it won’t happen, just saying it isn’t done right now. Hit me on e-mail when you get a chance.

For the record……Converse is a subsidiary of Nike, who made the purchase for $305 million on ’03.

You’re dead-on about Nike/Converse, but Converse isn’t playing with Nike’s bankroll, which is the point Jeremy was making.
