Weightlifting Remains Fun, Potentially Crippling

The Chinese have been cleaning up in weightlifting, the Olympic sport given shortest shrift by network coverage thus far. Only equestrian events have been given less coverage, leading us to propose a merger between the two sports: "horse-lifting." Think about it NBC. Think about it long and hard.

Liao Hui won China's fifth weightlifting gold in Beijing, at one point snatching 190 KG, or 418 pounds and 14 ounces for those of you still fond of Imperial weights. The Chinese have, with the muscular showing in these games, now established that they have the pre-eminent weightlifting program in the world, vaulting past the traditional Balkan powers to seize the golden unitard of global weightlifting prowess in both the women's and men's division. Say what you will about near-deadly levels of toxins in the air and water; it evidently makes strong mutants ideal for heaving up twice their body weight over their head.

None of his lifts looked anything like the ones seen in the video below, by the way.

Oh, and in conclusion, the Chinese are strong, and you suck at weightlifting, you flabby, weak American. That is all.
