Amanda Beard Is With Leather

Amanda Beard premiered her nude-ish anti-fur PETA ad in Beijing this morning, and used the publicity to make her message clear:
"I'm not trying to be in everybody's face and be harsh or negative. I want to be calm and yet get my voice out there. I'm doing it for all those animals who don't have a voice."
That's all fine and good -- everyone needs a cause, I guess -- but The Deceiver points out that Beard might be a bit of a hypocrite. Back in February of '07, Beard had this to say when asked the question on the tip of our collective tounge: What shoes do you wanna be buried in:
All of my friends would agree that it would be this pair of leather sandals that I wear all the time. I wear them on the pool deck, at the beach, and even sneak them into my wardrobe for dinners.
I'm not sure if Amanda is aware of this, but leather would be the skin of the animal, which lies just beneath the precious fur for which she so bravely removed her clothing. But there's more. It seems Amanda also has a leather biker jacket she wears when riding (from September of last year):
"You don't take 50% off the leather jacket you use to ride on your motorcycle," she says. "When you're skidding across the highway you want something that fits."
Interesting. Perhaps Amanda actually has no real issue with fur and just enjoys getting naked for money? Or, maybe, she has seen the error of her animal-skin-wearing ways over the past year.
