Ron Washington Would Like You to Kindly Hand Him the Ball, Young Man. Thank You.

Richie Sexson, who you may know from such sucktastic productions as the 2007 and 2008 Seattle Mariners, hit his first homer as a Yankee two nights ago. It happened to be a grand slam off Rangers pitcher CJ Wilson. After the bomb, manager Ron Washington strolled out to the mound to let Wilson know that giving up hits of any kind to Richie Sexson will not be tolerated. And then, this happened:

Sure, that was funny and perhaps added insult to, um, insult, but other than that, you’d probably think it wasn’t a big deal. You’d be wrong. Just as Dallas Morning News’ Evan Grant:
But when you flip the ball to the manager and start walking off the mound before he's even on top of it, you might as well flip the manager off. It's just disrespectful. And it was disrespectful in front of the entire team, a crowd of more than 34,000 people and a pretty large local TV audience. Which is why Ron Washington grabbed him, gave him the ball back and made him hand the ball properly. And it's why the first thing Washington did after the game was call Wilson into his office for a 30-minute meeting to settle this once and for all.
Based on that last sentence, I’m gonna assume that Wilson is no longer with us. RIP, buddy. You weren't much of a pitcher, but you sure were good at being a disrespectful schmuck.
