With the Olympics over, free agency mostly exhausted, restricted free agency resolved, and no one getting arrested or nothing, there remains but one story in the NBA landscape. And boy it is a doozy: Ben Gordon, still standing, still thriving, still refusing to sign. League sources continue to suggest there is little to no action on the Gordon trade market ... Even if there is a team willing to meet Gordon's asking price, that team must also be ready to take someone like Larry Hughes or Andres Nocioni in the deal and send some useful players back to the Bulls. Shouldn't be a problem, right? The Herald points out that "a dynamic point guard such as Derrick Rose [gets] open shots for his teammates ... So naturally, a strong outside shooter such as Gordon is a necessity." A bit of a stretch, there, especially when it could be used as leverage by Gordon's camp. But it does put a rational spin on a deal that, however unhappy one or both sides are with it, now seems all but inevitable. Gordon could sign for the one-year qualifying offer and enter unrestricted free agency. He could swallow his pride and take the Bulls offer, or at very least compromise -- they're only $2 million a year apart, right?
Well, there is a way out of this mess. Both sides just need to understand how much they need each other. The Bulls need a quality 3-point shooter and Gordon doesn't figure to get any better options than re-signing with the team that drafted him No. 3 in 2004.

Ben Gordon has an overinflated opinion of himself, he is a scorer off the bench, period. The sooner he realizes what he is the sooner he can get on with the rest of his career.

I like Ben and think he can be a nice piece off the bench for the Bulls, but his days of starting are all but over unless he can play better D than Hinrich or can score with a little bit better consistancy. He is just to short to be a starter at the SG spot in this league.
He made a huge mistake last year in not signing that contract and now he knows it. Take what you can get Ben or work with the Bulls on a sign and trade and get out of town. No one wants a bitter player after watching this team blowup last year. Know your value and sign a contract for it, you are not a top 20 SG in this league you won’t get paid like it either.

Is it me or would Ben Gordon be a perfect fit in Golden State. Gordon would end up with almost the same roll that he has now in Chicago but the Warrior guards seem to get injured a consistent basis so he will have plenty of chances to start.

Gordon can’t/doesn’t defend the SG position, is a streaky shooter, dribbles too much when pressed and was very stupid to turn down the offer last year. Nuf said, the Bulls are better off if he goes to Europe and learns Italian….
