Ed Hochuli's Whistle Continues Its Rampage

Looks like Ed Hochuli will again come under fire for a bad call. Hochuli voided a Panthers INT return TD by calling a roughing the passer/helmet-to-helmet penalty on Julius Peppers on the play. Replays show Peppers went in with the elbow. Carolina still leads 14-9 at home over the Falcons, so this flub may go quietly into the night.

Elsewhere ...

* N.O.'s Lance Moore can catch the ball -- he has two Saints TDs and 85 yards as New Orleans leads the Niners 21-6. But the dude is a pitiful celebrator. His dance moves after the first score belong in a Starsky and Hutch scene; he laid out for a Drew Brees bomb late in the second quarter, and celebrated by laying spread eagle in the end zone for what seemed like 30 seconds. I like the Saints alright, but I was begging for a Takeo Spikes leg drop. Poor form by Moore.

* Ryan Fitzpatrick, you are no J.T. O'Sullivan! Cincinnati's Gaelic offering -- in place of battered Carson Palmer -- has two rough INTs, though the Bengals lead 6-3 over the impotent Browns, who are watching Derek Anderson beg to be replaced.

* The Jets are annihilating the Cardinals in Jersey, 31-0, with Brett Favre threatening to strike again before the half. Kurt Warner has two picks and Edgerrin James can't get going. The Jets are wearing those hideous blue and gold throwbacks.

* In a spot of serious news, TB kicker Matt Bryant has made a go of it ... despite his son dying earlier this week. Matthew Tryson Bryant, three months old, died Wednesday. Bryant elected to play, and has an extra point and two field goals for the Bucs, who lead 13-7 over Green Bay.

Good thing the Panthers won. After watching the replay I broke my remote; clearly another bad call. Get your stuff together Ed. You cost my team an interception and pretty much voided a good play by Julius Peppers.

i don’t think he should be fired, but he should be suspended or fined.
