The Canadian Motorsports Expo

Today my son and I went to Toronto to the Canadian Motorsports Expo. We were going to go to the Expo on Saturday but due to other commitments in the morning and some bad weather later in the day we decided to wait until Sunday to go, so we missed Jacques Villeneuve and Ron Fellows who were both there on Saturday.

Anyway, the normally 45 minute drive to the International Centre took us 2 hours because of a huge accident on the highway. Man, my luck!

So we finally got there and my son was still in pretty good spirits and he seemed to enjoy himself, although by the time we got done walking around the Expo he was complaining that he was tired. He came back home with a small 1:64 Dale Earnhardt #2 Wrangler Pontiac die-cast and a Voodoo Ride Dale Earnhardt Jr hat which I kind of like for myself actually so if he ends up not wearing it I'll take it.

Even though there was a lot to see and discover, I expected few more exhibits and vendors to be there but given the state of the economy and the infancy of the event I can understand why there was limited participation from some of the major players in the Canadian auto racing industry.

I expect this Expo to continue to grow over the next few years and look forward to going to it in years to come. Having major Canadian racing icons like Ron Fellows and Jacques Villeneuve, who was a very late addition to the show, won't hurt the development of the Expo either.

Also at the Expo were the show cars of Jimmie Johnson and Dale Jr, both of which were crowd pleasers.

Here are some pictures of the Expo:
