MIS Is Showing a Sign of The Times

I just got a letter in the mail today from Michigan International Speedway. I usually do get something from MIS about this time of year reminding me that I once bought tickets from them and they are wondering if I would like to do so again.

But this time it was different, there are reduced ticket prices, along with a list of new track features such as new grand stands with wider seats, more legroom, and seats with backs. But wait there's more: new public address system around the track and under the grandstands, faster exit traffic flow (how I don't really know unless the have built a new series of roads), and better signage around the track so you know where you are going.

And finally, here is what has my attention - $40.00 tickets with children under 12 free! Yup, I'm going and I'm taking my son. I told him that I would take him to a race when he reached a certain age and he is turning that age in a few months so I now have to live up to my end of the bargain.

Look out MIS I'm about to unleash the terror of Canada on you, my son! Ha, ha, ha (my evil diabolical laugh)!

One other thing I noticed about this letter/pamphlet I got is that there are no race sponsors for either the Nationwide race or Sprint Cup race in August. In the past those races usually have had sponsors by now. I guess getting sponsors for races is just as hard as getting them to sponsor race teams.
I sure hope that Bruton Smith is watching closely to what MIS is doing to get fans to the track this year. Giving fans a break on ticket prices certainly is better than the blackouts proposed by Bruton Smith.
What MIS is doing is a sign of the times that all other track owners must pay attention to or they will not have very full racing venues this year.
