Dustin Pedroia isn't just a hero in Boston; the small Sacramento suburb of Woodland from which Pedroia hails has fallen all over itself to make sure everyone knows this is Dustin's town. But fame brings attention, and life typically includes embarrassing siblings. The famous life, then, brings attention to those embarrassing siblings. So when your older brother is arrested on charges of child molestation in that small town where banners celebrate your achievements, it's news.
Brett Pedroia, 29, turned himself in to Woodland police on Jan. 9. According to an arrest report, he's suspected of oral copulation and lewd acts with a child under 14. Brett Pedroia was booked and later released on $50,000 bail. He was working in his family's tire store Saturday, but he said he had no comment. The Pedroia family is well-known and liked in Woodland.I live a few blocks from the Pedroias. I've never met them, but I can confirm that the family is royalty in this town. Every pro accomplishment Dustin has reached has practically been met with a parade, or at least a giant banner on Main Street at the city's central gateway. Dustin is known as a fairly private cat, but the family is prominent, its tire store one of the most beloved local small businesses.

I always knew the Pedroia’s were a weird family.
About a month ago I stopped by Dustin’s house for an autograph, and he invited me in. He told me that he had a marker taped to his thigh, and asked me to find it for him so he could autograph my baseball mit.
After searching for the marker for 10 minutes or so; Dustin said that he must have misplaced it, and that I should return in an hour of so to look again!
I never went back, because it took me so long to clean my sticky hands!
