Just about anything short of the Redskins winning out will result in the firing of Jim Zorn after the season. So, in other words: Jim Zorn is going to be fired.
So expect plenty of rumors about who Dan Snyder has in mind as his replacement. Over the weekend, there was the Fox Sports report that Danny has contacted Mike Shanahan more than once. With that plan seemingly haven fallen through, Snyder now has his sights set on Jon Gruden, according to the Washington Examiner:
Snyder has not contacted Gruden, say sources, but he believes the former Oakland-Tampa Bay coach might be the best fit among five Super Bowl winning coaches without jobs. […]
Snyder is seeking is a candidate willing to leave major personnel decisions to Cerrato and the owner. NFL sources close to Gruden said that’s not an expected deal breaker.
“When the guy has worked in the worst environment in football in Al Davis, he’ll not see this as a problem,” an NFL source said. “Gruden really wants to coach.”
Win-win: Skins fans get an upgrade at the head coach position and everyone else no longer has to listen to Gruden on Monday Night Football.

The plane is in a tail-spin and all they’ve done for years is shuffle around flight attendants and passengers. You can’t do this forever and not expect to hit the mountain.
Also, the Washington Examiner? Really? Really?
