Brett Favre’s return to Lambeau Field on November 1 was originally a 1:00 game. This morning, it was announced that the game has been moved to 4:15, swapping time slots with the Giants-Eagles game, which will now be an early start.
The reason? Game 4 of the World Series is also on November 1, and there’s a chance the Phillies will be playing in it. Therefore, there was a potential conflict with them and the Eagles both playing at the same time.
All of this is outstanding news for Fox. The only other 4:00 game they’re carrying that day is Carolina-Arizona, thus allowing them to show Favre vs. Packers nearly nationwide. Based on the fact that the first meeting between Minnesota and Green Bay this season was the most watched cable program ever, Fox executives are probably giving each other champagne baths right now.
