Pitching in the postseason for the first time in five years, Pedro Martinez has turned in a magnificent performance for the Phillies today. His line: seven innings pitched, no runs, two singles, no walks.
Then, manager Charlie Manuel apparently decided to make the game interesting, as he trotted out Chan Ho Park (who is only the second-best pitcher of our generation) to start the eighth. The Phillies have lost their precarious 1-0 lead, and the Dodgers now have the bases loaded. This is why Pedro Martinez should never, ever, ever be pulled from a game. What? Who's Grady Little? Sorry, I prefer not to reflect on things that happened more than four seconds ago.
