Eagles Pro Bowl LT Peters Injures Knee, Will Undergo MRI

As if losing to the Raiders wasn't bad enough, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the Eagles lost Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters in the first quarter Sunday to a knee injury.

In the offseason, Philadelphia traded the rights to their 28th overall pick to the Bills and signed Peters to a six-year contract.

Inquirer writers Bob Brookover and Jeff McLane break down the injury:

With 7 minutes and 20 seconds left in the first quarter of the Eagles' unsightly 13-9 loss to the Oakland Raiders yesterday, quarterback Donovan McNabb stepped up in the pocket to avoid pressure and flipped a pass to Brian Westbrook.

The play resulted in a 4-yard gain, but another major loss for the offensive line.

When the play ended, high-priced offensive tackle Jason Peters remained on the ground well behind the original line of scrimmage.

After being helped from the field, Peters was taken to the trainer's table on the visiting sideline, where  Raiders defensive tackle Gerard Warren was blocked into Peters' knee.

Although X-rays were negative and Peters returned to the sideline before the end of the first half, he never got back in the game. He has an MRI examination scheduled for today in Philadelphia.
