With apologies to Ernie Johnson, the Houston Chronicle provides this evening’s head-scratching stat of the day: Matt Schaub is on pace to out-throw the freewheelin’ Warren Moon:
If Schaub stays healthy and continues on his current pace, he’ll have 4,832 yards, 37 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
To show just how impressive those statistics would be, consider this: Warren Moon never threw for more than 4,690 yards and 33 touchdowns despite playing in the run-and-shoot with the Oilers.
Naturally, those are two big ifs, but fantasy owners who picked Schaub in their mid-to-late rounds have to jumping for joy all the same. Schaub has always looked good, but this good? This is a new thing.
