Week 8 College Football Buffet: All the Saturday Games Worth Consuming

Let's find out what looks tasty and what might be worth pushing to the side of your plate in this weekend's college football buffet. (All times are Eastern.)

No. 10 TCU @ No. 16 Brigham Young (Versus, 7:30pm)

Ladies and gentlemen, your Game of the Week involves the Mountain West, and the Mountain West alone.  The GameDay crew will all be there, assuming Lee Corso doesn't get lost at some point.  Last year, TCU owned BYU on third down.  That could be the difference-maker once again.

No. 3 Texas @ Missouri (ABC, 8pm)

Texas is coming off a brutal, emotional win over Oklahoma...some might say they're primed for a letdown. Missouri has nothing to lose and that could make all the difference.

Oregon State @ No. 4 USC (ABC, 8pm)

USC closed the door on all that Notre Dame hype last week.  They'll try to avenge last year's loss to the Beavers this weekend.

No. 12 Oregon @ Washington (ABC, 3:30pm)

The Duck-Husky rivalry goes back a long way, pre-dating the Pac-10.  If Oregon wants to maintain it's spot atop the conference, they'll have to control Jake Locker and Washington's offense.

No. 25 Oklahoma @ No. 24 Kansas (ABC, 3:30pm)

Make no mistake, Oklahoma is in a must-win situation if it wants to salvage it's place in the Big 12.  Of course, they won't be doing anything with Sam Bradford, though it still remains to be seen for how long.

South Florida @ No. 20 Pittsburgh (Big East Network, Noon)

South Florida finds itself in the same-old position.  After a solid start they lost a big game and now find themselves staring into the precipice.  Lose here and all that good will is gone.  The Panthers would be more than happy to take USF's place in the Big East pack.

Connecticut @ No. 22 West Virginia (ESPNU, Noon)

All eyes will be on this game for the tributes to fallen UConn player Jasper Howard.  Expect the pre-game to be emotional, if UConn can win expect the post-game to be even more so.  West Virginia will be playing without the services of DL Scooter Berry.

Arizona State @ Stanford (FSN, 10:15pm)

ASU is coming off a season-changing win over the Huskies.  They'll try to keep the momentum going against the Cardinal, who are heading in the opposite direction.

Auburn @ No. 9 LSU (ESPN2, 7:30pm)

LSU is trying to maintain some perspective.  Auburn is officially in do-or-die mode. Neither of them can afford a loss if they have any chance of sneaking into the SEC Championship.

No. 7 Iowa @ Michigan State (BTN, 7pm)

So we can finally all admit Iowa is pretty good, right?  Michigan State does have a chance, depending on whether or not they can play two full halves of football.

Minnesota @ No. 18 Ohio State (ESPN, Noon)

In the wake of the stunning loss to Purdue, Buckeye fans have returned to doing what they do best: losing their s***. They'll get no sympathy from Minnesota.  The Gophers openly mock God, what kind of respect do you think they have for Terrelle Pryor?

No. 2 Florida @ Mississippi State (ESPN, 7:30pm)

Mississippi State was just happy to get a win last week.  They'll have quite the harder task this week, though there are some ghosts of upsets past still lurking in these parts.

Louisville @ No. 5 Cincinnati (ESPNU, 3:30pm)

It would be eay for Cincinnati to overlook Louisville and put their focus on less-pressing matters, like proving their status in the state of Ohio.  But they would be wise to put this one away early ratyher than simply look past the improving Cardinals.

Clemson @ No. 8 Miami (ABC/ESPN, 3:30pm)

If Clemson can break down Miami's West Coast offense, they'll be in a great position for the upset.  Either way, this game should help break up the logjam in the ACC race.  Slightly.

No. 13 Penn State @ Michigan (ABC/ESPN, 3:30pm)

Penn State fans fear The Forcier.  Michigan fans are humbled by JoePa's career.  None of that matters once the ball is snapped of course.

Tennessee @ No. 1 Alabama (CBS, 3:30pm)

Tennessee fans are being cautiously pessimistic about their chances this weekend.  Alabama is feeling Mark Ingram Mark Ingram Mark Ingram.

No. 11 Georgia Tech @ Virginia (Raycom, Noon)

Let's take an in-depth look at Al Groh's time at Virginia.  On second thought...do we have to?

Arkansas @ Mississippi (SEC Network, Noon)

Evber since hiring Houston Nutt, Rebel fans have been hearing it from the Arkansas faithful. Hog fans, who remain split on how to feel about the Nutt Era, don't want to lose to their ol' coach.

No. 6 Boise State @ Hawaii (KTVB/Oceanic, 11pm)

The only thing that could stop the Broncs this weekend...the flu.

Vanderbilt @ No. 23 South Carolina (ESPNU, 7pm)

Vandy's pass defense looks daunting statistically but when you break it down, it's only because their run defense is so atrocious everyone is running all over them.

UCLA @ Arizona (FS Regional, 7pm)

UCLA fans are having a hard time guessing how their team will do against the Desert Swarm.  The Cats haven't been exactly impressing folks either, especially on defense.

Idaho @ Nevada (Go Vandals Network, 4pm)

Normally I wouldn't make note of this game but I just want to make sure you're aware that Idaho is already bowl eligible at 6-1.  Carry on.

Air Force @ No. 19 Utah (Versus, 4pm)

How good are the Utah Utes?  It's tough to tell in the first half of the season.  They'll be facing a formidable opponent in Air Force and we'll see where they fall in the MWC hierarchy.

Boston College @ Notre Dame (NBC, 3:30pm)

An enigmatic Boston College team come to South Bend and the Irish need to stop the bleeding.  It's a battle of Coordinator vs. Coordinator for the right to be called God's favorite team.

Colorado @ Kansas State (FCS Central, 12:30pm)

A match-up of two teams that seemed to defy the odds last week.  Colorado beat undefeated Kansas and Kansas State dropped 60 points on Texas A&M.  Yeah...I have no idea where thay came from either.

Iowa State @ Nebraska (FSN, 12:30pm)

Iowa State won a Big 12 game for the first time in almost two years last week.  Savor it, Cyclone fans, cause that'll probably be it for a while.  Statistically-speaking, it doesn't look good.

SMU @ No. 17 Houston (CBS College Sports, 7:30pm)

The #1 offense in all the land will try to keep it going as Houston looks for it's fourth-straight win over SMU.

Louisiana-Monroe @ Kentucky (SEC Network, 7pm)

A week after a come-from-behind win over Auburn, the Wildcats get a gimme and a chance to keep the momentum rolling.

Akron @ Syracuse (Time Warner-NY, 3:30pm)

Believe it or not this is a revenge game for the Orange, who lost to Akron in the Dome last year.  They should have an easy time, especially if the Zips show up without a quarterback.

Wake Forest @ Navy (CBS College Sports, 3:30pm)

The Deacons got bit in the butt last week.  They'll try to rebound and salvage their season against Navy.

No. 14 Oklahoma State @ Baylor (Versus, 12:30pm)

Baylor had a lot of high hopes before the season but when QB Robert Griffin went down, so did their chances.  They're looking and playing like the worst team in the Big 12 again.

Indiana @ Northwestern (BTN, Noon)

Northwestern's season is not turning out the way fans had hoped.  They'll have a chance to turn things arround against Indiana, whom they have a mostly-unknown rivalry with.

Illinois @ Purdue (ESPN2, Noon)

Two programs with similar records who seem to be moving in completely opposite directions.  Illinois seems to have hit rock bottom while Purdue, well, I think they're still celebrating.

Rutgers @ Army (ESPN2, 8pm)

So how good/bad is Rutgers anyway?  They've cleaned up on all the cupcakes on their schedule but gotten beat up by all the legit opponents.  They should win this one but we're not sure how much it will tell us.
