Last week, Steve Phillips and his Brooke Hundley-related sexual escapades very nearly made the Internet explode. Tonight, ESPN has rendered its final verdict on Phillips's behavior, at least in so far as it relates to Phillips's employment at the Worldwide Leader. In other words, Phillips is gone. From ESPN rep Mike Soltys, who chose to break this news via his own Twitter page:
Steve Phillips is no longer working for ESPN. His ability to be an effective rep of ESPN has been significantly & irreparably damaged.
Whether that punishment is fair or not, the ramifications are clear: No more Steve Phillips on ESPN. I have a feeling most viewers won't miss a beat, except for the vague, placid peacefulness they feel when they tune in to SportsCenter this winter and don't see a single staged press conference.

Thank...GOD!
That guy was insufferable as an analyst and commentator, and even more so as a human being. I’m glad he’s gone.
