Chiefs running back Larry Johnson has been asked to stay away from team activities, and he is not at team headquarters today as Kansas City returns to practice.
It is not a suspension but is similar to the punishment Johnson faced after last year's bye week, when the Chiefs benched him after a series of arrests.
The official statement from the team:
The Kansas City Chiefs and the National Football League are continuing to investigate the alleged comments made by Larry Johnson. Until that review is complete, the Chiefs have instructed Larry to refrain from practicing with the Chiefs or participating in other team activities. A decision regarding Larry’s status will be made once the investigation has concluded.
Johnson has already issued an apology, which can be read at SB Nation's Arrowhead Pride.

Redskins Will Not Pursue Larry Johnson
Via Rick Maese of the Washington Post comes confirmation that the Redskins will not look to sign Larry Johnson.
This is a minor consolation for Skins fans: at least Dan Snyder isn't foolish enough to snatch up every washed-up big name available — just every other one.
