Iowa has played a terrifying brand of low-margin football all year long, happy to flirt with disaster against opponents big and small on the way to a top 5 ranking and an undefeated 2009 season to date. They may have gotten even more terrifying if you think of them like a normal team, but that may be your first mistake. Losing their starting running back only makes them less predictable, meaning they're going to find new and even more hair-raising ways to turn their fans into cardiac arrest cases.
Freshman Adam Robinson will miss the rest of the year with an unspecified ankle injury. His replacement, Brandon Wegher, has rushed for 321 yards in relief duty, and will have to fill in for the rest of Iowa's inevitable, ever-teetering campaign for the fluke of all fluke BCS championships, my predicted Boise State/Iowa matchup. Oh, laugh now. When you're starting at your television agape with shock on January 7th, you'll be sorry you mocked it back when.
