Want to get pumped for this year’s basketball season? Skip all of our previews and don’t bother with any pesky pregame shows… This video pretty much nails it:
But aside from the scores of superstars—as many or more playing right now than in any other era—waxing poetic about the game they love, there’s Kevin Garnett. Breathing heavily, grinning maniacally, and generally just looking… crazy. Really, if they hadn’t spliced in other NBA stars and just made this a Kevin Garnett monologue, it might have been legitimately terrifying, but more likely, just really annoying and pathetic.
It’s unclear when, exactly, Garnett affected this drastic persona for himself—complete with superfluous screaming, chest beating, and spontaneous tears, but he wasn’t always this expressive, right? He used to be funny in commercials… He was part of the fun police!
Now, apparently, he’s the most INTENSE. PLAYER. OF ALL TIME! ARGHHHHHHHHHH!
And that’s fine, but for the record, I choose to remember the KG from this commercial:
(Note: that’s the Marbury I remember, too).
