According to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski, the Milwaukee Bucks have declined to exercise Joe Alexander’s option on his rookie contract:
Bucks will make Joe Alexander highest draft pick ever to have rookie option declined and will allow him to be UFA in summer, sources tell Y!
It wasn’t too long ago that Alexander was considered one of the more athletic wing players in his draft class, and a terrific prospect. Especially for a white guy from Taiwan-Maryland-Hong-Kong-China-West Virginia.
But now, after injuries and a meek first season, the Bucks would rather let him go than pay him $2.76 million, which in the NBA is like five bucks. And it’s a sign that either the Bucks are really poor, or that Alexander’s really bad. Either way, kinda sad.

I obviously says something about him, but the Bucks are making a concerted effort to trim their salary. About a year ago, someone in the organization realized that they had spent WAY too much money for people who didn’t deserve it, and know they’ve just been downsizing ever since. They literally gave Jefferson and Williams away, and if they could find someone wacko enough to take on Andrew Bogut’s $73 million deal, I’m sure they’d deal him too.
