FSU’s president TK Wetherell issued a statement this morning regarding Bobby Bowden’s future as FSU’s head coach. He boldly stood by the head coach!
FSU does not make coaching changes in the middle of the season.
Take that, Jimbo Fisher-istas! This old man ain’t goin’ nowhere! Unless he does:
Any coach can choose to retire at any time. However, it is the athletics director’s responsibility to determine which coaches are hired and which contracts are extended.
Translated: Bowden won’t be pushed out mid-season, but he could be gone at the end of the year when they can do this thing smoothly, and if Bowden doesn’t cooperate with some kind of buyout or retirement package, the groundwork for a firing is there as a last-ditch option if Bowden decides to fight the retirement.
