In the sixth inning of the still-ongoing Rockies-Phillies game, Aaron Cook was chased from the game in favor of Jose Contreras (Yes, seriously. Yeah, that Jose Contreras. Oh come on, stop laughing.) Cook had already given up one run, to make the score 4-1, and now runners were on second and third with one out. Raul Ibanez is up. The obvious decision: intentionally walk him, load the bases, set up the double play.
What Jim Tracy did: Let Contreras (/snickers) pitch to Ibanez, who promptly singles to left, driving in both runners (Howard, Utley).
Load your weapons, media:
Tracy is going to rightfully get killed in the media for pitching to Ibanez there. So many reasons to IBB him, so few to throw to him.
Contreras did get out of the inning without further damage.
