Owen Daniels' Likely Out For Season With Torn ACL

The Houston Texans' standout TE Owen Daniels was carted off the field in Buffalo today, and the prognosis is not looking good for Houston's Pro Bowler. Anytime we write "ACL" in the headline, it's not a good sign. And while nothing's conclusive at this point, the tone of quotes from both Daniels and Houston Head Coach Gary Kubiak don't sound promising. From the Houston Chronicle:

"It doesn't look good," coach Gary Kubiak said.

Daniels, who went to the Pro Bowl last season and was off to the best start of his career, was using crutches after the game.

"My knee doesn't feel good, and I'm really concerned," Daniels said. "There's always a little bit of hope, but the worst-case scenario is that I'll be back and ready to go next year."

Daniels, who suffered a torn ACL as a senior in high school, was hurt on a third-down incompletion on the Texans' second series of the game.

"I was running my route, and I planted and made my cut and felt something," he said. "There was some contact, but it wasn't like I was being tackled."

We'll have more news as it emerges.
