Eye-Gouging Is All the Rage in College Football

You've undoubtedly seen the Brandon Spikes eye-gouging incident that made him miss the Vanderbilt game last weekend. Is this play below on the same level? Not as bad? Worse? You be the judge in the comments.

At the very least, there's some sort of illegal hands to the face going on there. This clear-as-day angle should earn Clemson's Andre Branch a suspension.

I’m not sure why I’m justifying this with a response when everyone else is ignoring it (justifiably).  This is a joke, right?  The hands have to go into the helmet to be eye gouging.  Branch just grabs the top of the helmet and lets go when the guy clearly isn’t getting to the ball.  Worse stuff happens all the time in the scramble for fumbles; he just reacted by grabbing the 1st part of the guy available to keep him from the ball.  Probably could have been flagged for 15 yds, but a suspension; give me a break!
