The Phinsider: Brown's Injury 'Sickening'

Dolphins fans are obviously upset about Ronnie Brown’s injury, but not just because the hurt foot puts Ricky Williams back in an uncomfortable every-down role, and not just because any injury is bad news. No, it’s especially sad for Brown, whom The Phinsider calls one of the NFL’s “good guys”:

This means that Ricky Williams will suddenly be thrust back into the workhorse role – a role he isn’t exactly a big fan of. Expect to see some opportunities for Lex Hilliard and Kory Sheets as well.

You also can’t help but wonder about Ronnie’s future in Miami. If a new CBA is not reached between the players and the owners, then Brown is under contract in Miami for one more season – with a salary of $5 million. But if a new CBA is reached prior to the start of the 2010 “league year” – meaning that the uncapped season does not happen – then Brown is a free agent.

It’s a tough break for Ronnie, no doubt about it. And it’s sickening to me as well – as one of the NFL’s “good guys” suffers his second season-ending injury in three years. Talk about bad luck.

Ronnie Brown Placed on IR With Foot Injury

From ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

Filed to ESPN: A crushing blow to Miami — The Dolphins placed RB Ronnie Brown on injured reserve.

A crushing blow indeed. This now means Ricky Williams and Pat White will likely split time running point on the wildcat, which is obviously a huge part of the Dolphins’ offense. It also means more spotlight time for Williams, which he just can’t get enough of.

Dolphins RB Ronnie Brown Will Miss Week 11 Game

As expected, Dolphins RB Ronnie Brown will miss the team’s Week 11 game against the Panthers on Thursday night, according to CBS Sports. Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano told reporters that Brown will meet with a specialist to consult on his injured foot. The team has not announced any timeline for his return.

Update

Ronnie Brown's Foot Reportedly Bigger Concern Than His Ankle

The injuries are apparently piling up for Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown. Aside from his sprained ankle, which while not serious was expected to keep him out of the team’s Thursday night Week 11 game against the Panthers, he is also reportedly being bothered with a foot problem. Indeed, Jay Glazer reports that the Dolphins are more concerned about his foot than they are about his ankle.

We’ll have more details as they become available.

Ronnie Brown Injures Ankle, Likely Out Week 11

Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown left the team's Week 10 win over the Bucs in the third quarter after going down with an ankle injury, according to the Miami Herald. Brown will undergo tests on his ankle on Monday, and while the team has not disclosed the extent of his injury, it seems unlikely that he will be ready to play in the team's Week 11 game against the Panthers on Thursday night.

With Brown out, it's not clear who will be the primary triggerman for the Dolphins in their vaunted Wildcat formation. Rookie quarterback Pat White could see extended playing time, although he has been used rather sparingly to this point. Ricky Williams could take snaps in the Wildcat, although he may not be the same throwing threat -- albeit, marginal one -- that Brown was.
