There are many logical reasons for the Lakers to want Ron Artest on their team instead of Trevor Ariza. Artest is a tough guy who can create his own shot, score in the post and play tough defense. He's got a very good relationship with the team's star, Kobe Bryant. He's at an age where he's more concerned about winning a championship than making a name for himself in the league.
But who knew that the real reason the Lakers wanted Artest over Ariza was for moments like these.
Could you imagine Trevor Ariza yanking anyone's shoe off and throwing it into the stands to allow his team to hit a three-point basket? I didn't think so. See, Mitch Kupchak is a genius! You can't repeat as champions without guys who are willing to do anything to give their team (or themselves) an open shot!
What's that? The Lakers lost the game? La la la la la la la la la I can't hear you!
